We flew into beautiful Pokhara National Park and though there was plenty to do we didn't wander a lot and I stayed by the lake and rice field surrounding the town.
Farmer harvesting flowers and herbs at the edges of the rice fields
Local farmer holding his daughter and quite happy about it. We talked about his family and wife and how and what life in America was all about.
Once again another festival/celebration/ritual. Noticed it was a girl thing and one of the locals mentioned it was about praying for love and finding a mate.
Mother and daughter praying at one of the local Buddhist temple
Two of the local monks-in-training having a good time being mischievous little kids.
Like this photo of one of the local woman, kids in tow getting soaked to the bone in the monsoon while waiting to make an offering at a one of the small shrines in the courtyard. Something in her gaze makes me think how much these women work at being moms and tough yet tender a lot of the women in Nepal are.
Another day, another festival in Nepal. I collided with this party after the shrine. Don't know what this ones all about but I can recognize Shiva and Parvati (Shivas wife) strolling around with a nice plaid umbrella.
Must have been religious but it sure looked like a dance party to me. Lots of whirling around with cymbals, drums and a boom box.
Waiting for our flight from Pokhara to Katmandu. Thunderstorms were threatening to cancel our flight (Air Nepal doesn't have a great track record - its a dangerous place to fly) and I'm sketching in the dry crowded lounge while listening to air reports.
Two rather abstract line drawings done from the prop planes windows as we fly from Pokhara to Katmandu. Bumpy flight over the edge of the Himalayas with the big peaks poking their summits up through the clouds
